TREES ON A RESIDENT'S PROPERTY
Many people are not aware that there are regulations in Brick Township regarding the removal of trees from their property. Under no circumstances are residents permitted to remove trees from their property without first getting permission from Brick Township. The removal of trees without prior approval can result in substantial fines and other penalties.
Before removing any tree from your property, you must first get permission from Brick Township by calling 732-262-1000 EXT 1351. In most cases, if the township gives you permission to remove the tree, they will require you to replace it with another tree. If a tree does not need to be replaced, the township will let you know.
TREES & VEGETATION IN THE BUFFER OR CONSERVATION AREA
For trees that are dead, dying, or represent a hazard to a resident's property and are located in the buffer zone or in the conservation area, contact Brick Township at 732-262-1000 EXT 1351 and they will send out someone to inspect the tree or trees. The Brick Township inspector will then make a determination as to whether or not the tree can be removed. If they decide that the tree can be removed, they will contact the Association to remove the tree and remediate the property.
Under no circumstances are residents permitted to remove, cut, or trim trees, reeds, or other vegetation from the buffer zones or conservation areas. Doing so could result in substantial fines and other penalties. Please contact your property manager at 732-298-6287 if you have any questions regarding this matter.
If your property has reeds behind it, you are NOT allowed to remove or cut them. These are protected wetlands. The DEP has been known to fine violators up to $50,000 for such offenses.
